How a combi boiler works:

  1. Water enters the boiler through a cold water feed pipe.

  4. The heated water in the central heating system then flows through pipes to radiators or underfloor heating.
  5. When you turn on a hot water tap, a valve in the boiler opens and hot water flows out of the boiler and through the hot water pipes to the tap.
  6. The cold water feed pipe then fills the boiler with cold water, ready for the next time you need hot water.
